The Story

The captivating piece, "The Becoming Bloom" is an oil pastel piece, reminiscent of my previous pieces which focus on black portraiture.

I wanted this piece to appear similar to my previous works with a more surreal aspect to capture something internal like the potential we each hold within ourselves.

This piece uses the digital visual element of the barcode was added onto the piece to disrupt the otherwise colorful and cohesive work. This was a decision to represent the commodification of the woman's potential.
